THE CASUALTY FIGURES

THE records show that 109 women died on the Titanic, the bulk of them Third Class passengers. Only four women from First Class suffered the same fate. Of the children, 52 out of 109 were lost, all from Third Class. By far the biggest toll was among the men — some 1,352 deaths. By and large, it had been women and children first after all.
