PRICE IS RIGHT FOR WARRIORS
NEWCASTLE 17 GLASGOW 27
ALI PRICE was in imperious form as he inspired Glasgow Warriors to victory against Newcastle Falcons in the last 16 of the Challenge Cup. The Scotland scrum-half tore Newcastle apart with his running ability as Glasgow claimed a first away win in Europe under head coach Danny Wilson. After running in four tries at Kingston Park last night, they can now look forward to a quarterfinal trip to face French side Lyon. Glasgow made a flying start to the match and scored the opening try after just four minutes through in-form hooker Johnny Matthews. Matthews got a hat-trick last time out against Zebre and he capped off a lovely, flowing team move to give his side an early lead last night, with fly-half Ross Thompson slotting the conversion. Warriors got their second try just three minutes later when Sebastian Cancelliere fed the ball wide for fellow winger Kyle Steyn to dive over. Newcastle fly-half Brett Connon put over a penalty, before Warriors then scored their third try on the half-hour mark. Price was once again the architect, darting through a gap to feed full-back Josh McKay to go over and score. Newcastle pulled a try back on 52 minutes through Will Montgomery, but Steyn got his second try on the hour-mark to ease any nerves. Joel Hodgson scored another for Newcastle with 15 minutes left, but Glasgow held firm.
