Highland diesel at 207p per litre

-

IT may be the most expensive place in the UK to run out of fuel.

This Highland petrol station was yesterday selling diesel for a whopping 207.6p a litre, 40p more than the UK average.

The Cluanie Inn, pictured, a hotel on the A887 Skye to Inverness road, shocked Easter holidaymakers with the £9.43-a-gallon price.

The hotel reopened earlier this year after a short seasonal shutdown – but motorists had complained about the fuel costs in October when it was selling diesel at 184.9p a litre.

Taking to social media, one motorist said: ‘At least Dick Turpin wore a mask.’

However, the inn’s owners say it does not make any money from the sale of fuel due to transportation costs.
