POLICE have launched a probe after a man was found dying on a city street.
Police believe Craig Watson was assaulted shortly after an altercation with a group of people in the East End of Glasgow just after midnight on Sunday.
Emergency services were called but the 39-year-old, of Glasgow, died at the scene.
Police are now appealing for information into the unexplained death in Whitevale Gardens, Dennistoun.
Detective Chief Inspector Cameron Miller of Police Scotland’s major investigation team said: ‘Inquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of Mr Watson’s death. However, at this time we believe that he had been assaulted after becoming involved in an altercation with a number of people in the Whitevale Gardens area shortly before he was found injured.
‘From our investigation so far, we know that there were a number of youths in the area before and after midnight, Saturday night into Sunday morning.
‘It is extremely important that these young people contact the police.’
