THE decision as to whether the dependencies of Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands should have dual sovereignty (Letters) can’t be decided by the Government, Spain or Argentina.
Under the UN charters on self-determination and decolonisation, the views of the residents have to be taken into consideration. Both have voted overwhelmingly in referendums to remain British.
Their right to live as they see fit under a political system of their choice must be protected.
