Cyclist pushed into river in latest attack
POLICE have stepped up patrols after complaints about a man pushing people into a river.
In the latest in the series of incidents, a woman cyclist was targeted by a man on the Water of Leith path in Edinburgh.
Onlookers said that there were four or five witnesses who saw the man shouting at other passers-by.
After he pushed the woman, at around 7pm on Wednesday, the man is said to have shouted ‘you shouldn’t have done that’ and walked off.
An eyewitness said: ‘The victim was pulled from the water by one of them and we all stayed with her to make sure she was OK.’
Police have released a description of the male suspect, who is first thought to have struck last week.
Sergeant Scott Walker said patrols had been stepped up, adding: ‘In connection with our inquiries, we are searching for a white man in his sixties with a possible tanned complexion.
‘He is between 5ft 7in and 5ft 10in, of medium to stocky build with grey and balding hair. Anyone with information should contact police on 101.’
