Ancient meets modern as castle unveils solar panels
SOLAR panels that will help to cut CO2 emissions at Edinburgh Castle were unveiled yesterday.
There was a backlash last year when Historic Environment Scotland (HES) submitted plans to install the panels on the roof of the Scottish National War Memorial.

the ‘historic fabric’ of the building, as well as Edinburgh’s skyline.
It is hoped that around 26,500 kWh will be generated per year, enough to offset the electrical consumption of the war memorial.
David Mitchell of HES said the body has ‘a responsibility to lead by example’ in reducing carbon emissions.
