MUIR TO RETURN FROM INJURY NEXT MONTH

LAurA muIr has confirmed she will make her belated comeback in may after a back injury delayed her preparations for this summer’s World Athletics Championships. The olympic silver medallist has raced only once since November and abandoned plans for an indoor campaign because of the lingering issue. But the 28-year-old Scot has returned to full training and has targeted a seasonopener in the 1500metres at the Birmingham Diamond League on may 21, where she will take on her training partner Jemma reekie. muir said: ‘It was frustrating for me not to be able to compete indoors over the winter, especially when my training had been going so well, but my focus was 100 per cent on getting healthy so I can be in the best possible shape to compete at the european and World Champs as well as the Commonwealth Games this summer.’
