Cold comfort

-

THE Prime Minister has announced we are spending an extra £300 million to support Ukraine.

Most of us agree we should help that war-torn country, but it will be of little comfort for 77-year-old widow, Elsie, who can only afford to eat one meal a day and spends hours on buses to stay warm.

When Boris was quizzed about her by Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain, he said he didn’t want Elsie to have to cut back on anything.

In that case, to help Elsie and thousands like her, he needs to shake the money tree a little nearer home.

PAUL MARSTON, Walsall, W. Mids.

YES, Mr Johnson, we oldies are grateful for our free bus passes, but we would also appreciate some help with the increasing cost of living. PATRICIA SUMMERS,

Littleover, Derbys.

I AM relieved to know that next winter, I can ride the warm buses for 24 hours a day. Who needs to worry about gas bills? Thank you, Prime Minister. Now I just need to be able to afford food — any ideas?

I. SMITH, London.
