Monarch who displays her human touch
HER Majesty, or the Mona Lisa? A rediscovered portrait of the Queen taken in 2004 has been published for the Jubilee. It shows her enigmatically smirking, apparently reacting to a remark made by her dresser Angela Kelly.
It’s an unusual snapshot and all the better for it, if only because it is in these unguarded moments that we really do see the human being behind the Crown. That she has allowed it to be published suggests that she, too, understands this.
