Christians with hard-line views
REES-MOGG is a devout Roman Catholic and was one of a handful of MPs to vote against legalising same-sex marriage in 2013. He also believes that women should not have abortions, even in cases of rape or incest.
He said: ‘Marriage is a sacrament ordained by God — it cannot be changed by an act of Parliament.’ He added: ‘I think abortion is one of the great tragedies of the modern world.’
Fury has similarly found himself at the centre of repeated controversies due to his views on abortion and homosexuality, which again spring from his Christian faith.
But he said: ‘I am not homophobic — my comments are from the holy scriptures.’
