Abramovich sanctions

ROMAN Abramovich has suffered a fresh blow after the Government placed sanctions on Evraz, the steel maker part-owned by the Russian oligarch.

The Foreign Office said that Evraz ‘operates in sectors of strategic significance to the government of Russia’ and the sanctions would ‘support Ukraine’s continued resistance’ against the Russain invaders. Evraz, in which Chelsea owner Abramovich holds an almost 29pc stake, produces 28pc of all Russian railway wheels and 97pc of rail-tracks in Russia, the Government said.

Abramovich, 55, was also sanctioned by the Government in March.
