No Indy triumph
THE SNP and Greens returned 488 councillors, while the proUnion parties returned 583.
I believe there should be a referendum ASAP because there is no majority for separation and we can end this constitutional quagmire once and for all.
Following seven abysmal, costly years, Nicola Sturgeon has failed to offer any economic/financial/ defence plans for a successful independent Scotland.
This election again shows that in any referendum Miss Sturgeon will lose. She knows that, hence her procrastination. DOUGLAS COWE, Newmachar,
Aberdeenshire.
IN WEST Lothian, the SNP took 15 seats out of a possible 33. However, the Unionist parties took 17, with one independent taking the remaining seat.
Ignoring the share of the vote taken by independents, the SNP and Greens took 47 per cent, whereas the Unionist parties took 53 per cent – hardly a ringing endorsement of independence. ANDREW WHITE, Livingston, West
Lothian.
