Don’t tick-box female actors, warns Minnie
MINNIE DRIVER is sick of political correctness in Hollywood. ‘Don’t just hire a woman as a film-maker so it will tick that box,’ says the Good Will Hunting star, 52.
Speaking at a How To Academy event, where she was promoting her memoir Managing Expectations, the actress says: ‘There’s an awful lot of “shoe-horning” and it doesn’t solve the problem. Instead, we should be sharing knowledge and mentoring, so the women who are given jobs happen to be the best candidates anyway.’
