Beat energy hikes

aS a rank outsider to the energy industry but as a senior member of the great British public, I offer a simple suggestion which could lower the cost of domestic power and encourage householders to reduce usage.

every domestic property should be given an allowance of gas or electricity of perhaps 500kwh per month at a greatly reduced rate which would be sufficient for a basic level of service. any power used above that would be charged at a far greater rate.

this should be easy to introduce as it would just require an amendment in the billing system.
