JACK FIT FOR SHOWPIECE BUT ROOFE IS STILL DOUBT, SAYS GIO

- By BRIAN MARJORIBANKS

GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST last night confirmed Ryan Jack will be fit to play in the Europa League final but Kemar Roofe remains touchand-go to face Eintracht Frankfurt. The Ibrox side picked up no fresh injury concerns as they thumped Ross County 4-1 at Ibrox in their final home match of the season on a night when Celtic were crowned Premiership champions after a 1-1 draw at Dundee United. Midfielder Jack has not played since hobbling out of the 3-1 semi-final second leg win over RB Leipzig at Ibrox after 59 minutes. Roofe has not played since the Old Firm match at Celtic Park on April 17 and with Alfredo Morelos out for the season, the Ibrox side would be strikerless in Seville if the 29-yearold doesn’t recover in time. But Van Bronckhorst says Jack will be ready for the Seville showdown next Wednesday, three days before Rangers face Hearts in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden. And the Ibrox boss was pleased to see his attacking players stake a claim for inclusion as Scott Wright, Fashion Sakala and Amad Diallo all found the net against County in addition to James Tavernier’s penalty. Van Bronckhorst said: ‘Jack will be ready for next week but I still don’t know about Kemar. It is going to be a close call for Kemar. It was a

good performance by us. We wanted to keep winning and keep the momentum going and rotate our players and give them more minutes.’ Van Bronckhorst praised the form of Wright but joked he would play Tavernier up front in Seville after the right-back notched his 18th goal of the season. ‘Scott Wright has been doing really well,’ he said. ‘He is very fast, very mobile. ‘I was also happy with James Tavernier’s performance. ‘He is going to play striker (against Frankfurt)! Maybe he wants that, I don’t know!’ County boss Malky Mackay had a night of mixed emotions after his side finished sixth and missed out on a European place. He said: ‘There was disappointment we could not take it to the final day of the season. But I’m proud of them.’
