DOBBIN IS UNFAZED BY DOHA CHALLENGE

- By MARK WOODS

BETH DOBBIN expects to do more than simply break sweat when she kicks off her season in today’s opening Diamond League meeting in Doha. ‘It’s going to be disgustingly warm,’ said the 27-year-old Scottish sprinter. ‘I’m not actually great with the heat. At the worlds in 2019, it was unbearable, we were on really late at night. Whereas this time, it’s not that late. So it’s going to be scorching.’ The Scottish 200metres record holder is diving straight in at the deep end with a field that includes the UK’s defending world champion Dina AsherSmith and the USA’s Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist Gabby Thomas. ‘If I’m serious about making finals, I need to be on the line with these girls,’ said Dobbin. ‘I’m the type of athlete that performs well under pressure.’
