ALCOHOL FREE NEVER LOOKED SO APPEALING

- By SAM TURNER Britain’s top tipster

BAAEED bids for a seventh straight career win in today’s Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes and victory would crown the four-year-old as the pre-eminent miler of the last decade. Baaeed is a red-hot favourite and, in all probability, will extend his winning sequence en route to more Group One glory at Royal Ascot. However, his price is prohibitive for those who like a tilt at the layers, so ALCOHOL FREE (Newbury, 3.20) is offered as a double-digit alternative, given she has race fitness on her side. A dual Group One winner in her own right, Alcohol Free is unbeaten in her two starts at the Berkshire venue. She beat her own sex at Ascot in the Coronation Stakes before winning in open company when landing the Sussex Stakes from 2,000 Guineas winner Poetic Flare. Admittedly, her Sandown comeback was a subdued performance but she may bounce back to somewhere near her best returning to one of her favourite tracks.
