McGregor may retire at Hibs instead of playing for rivals

-

DARREN MCGREGOR says he’s more likely to hang up his boots than play out the end of his career away from Hibernian. The defender skippered his boyhood heroes to victory over St Johnstone on Sunday in what might well be his last match as a professional. Despite having one year yet to run on his contract, the 36-year-old knows there is every chance that the incoming manager — likely to be either Lee Johnson or Jon Dahl Tomasson — might not see him as central to their plans. ‘I have a year left but I’m not naive, I am 37 in august,’ he explained. ‘I don’t want to block the pathway for younger guys coming up, although I feel I can still do a job. ‘I worked so hard to get here and, if I wasn’t playing for Hibs, I would struggle to see myself playing for anyone else.’
