In black and white, a 007 licence to thrill

- From Kamal Sultan in Cannes

THE red carpets were 6 0 miles apart but last night two Bond Girls stole the show at two glittering showbusiness events.

On home turf in London, Gemma Arterton, 36, drew gasps of admiration in a long black gown with plunging back plus a gold jewelled collar and long chain.

And in the south of France, fellow British actress Lashana Lynch, 34, dazzled the Cannes Film Festival in a close-fitting white gown with lace detail. Miss Arterton, who starred in the 2007 Bond film Quantum Of Solace, joined a host of A-listers at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, to celebrate this year’s crop of new dramas on Sky TV.

Miss Lynch, who in last year’s No Time To Die became the first black female to win Double-O ‘licence to kill’ status, said of her Cannes debut: ‘It’s so glorious. I get to celebrate cinema and celebrate myself.’
