Prince of Windsor
Ex-champion boxer Naseem rents £1.4m home near Queen
WHO’S this out and a-bout? Former world boxing champion ‘Prince’ Naseem Hamed strolls the streets of Windsor, although many fans might struggle to recognise him. The ex-sportsman, 48, is renting a £1.4million house in the area close to the Queen’s residence. An onlooker who saw Hamed carrying his shopping dressed in a tracksuit and Michael Jordan basketball T-shirt told The Sun: ‘It’s good to see Prince Naseem living in the shadows of proper royalty.’ The 5ft 4in Sheffield-born star held three featherweight world title belts in the late 1990s. Reportedly worth about £50million, he was ranked number 22 on Forbes’ list of the world’s highestpaid athletes in 1997. In 2006, the married father of three was jailed for 15 months after a collision in his £320,000 Mercedes McLaren left another driver with multiple injuries. He served just 16 weeks before being released with an electronic tag, though he was later stripped of his MBE.
