When life’s a beach hut for all the family
BEACH huts sell for an enormous sum, but i remember a time when they were part of most families’ seaside holidays. every year my family and friends would descend on Mablethorpe, lincolnshire, for two weeks. My parents rented a house while the owners lived in a caravan in their garden. We’d hire the same beach hut for ten shillings a week. My photo shows all the gang in front of our beach hut — i am bottom left. following the east Coast floods in 1953, it was the only hut left standing, waiting for us.
