Probe after golden eagle found dead
AN investigation has been launched into the death of a golden eagle.
The iconic bird of prey was discovered last month in the Glen Quaich area south of Aberfeldy.
Police Scotland want to establish the cause of death and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
A spokesman said: ‘An investigation is under way after a golden eagle was found dead in the Glen Quaich area of Perthshire on April 25.
‘Officers attended and removed the eagle and enquiries are ongoing. A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish its cause of death.’
No further details have been revealed.
Golden eagles are protected in the UK under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
Last year five birds of prey, including two golden eagles and a white tailed sea eagle, were found dead in the Western Isles.
