Outcry over ‘idiotic’ tweet

A TORY MP has been reprimanded by whips for appearing to make light of the arrest of his colleague over rape claims.

Michael Fabricant tweeted that there would be a ‘strong turnout’ of Conservative MPs in Parliament. The unidentified accused man has been asked to stay away from the Commons.

‘I’ll be there!’ Mr Fabricant added, followed by an emoji of a winking face sticking its tongue out. Welsh Secretary Simon Hart told BBC Politics Live: ‘It’s idiotic, it’s insensitive, and it attempts to make light of a really serious situation.’
