The night diamonds proved they ARE a girl’s best friend
FORGET a kiss on the hand – diamonds, it seems, are really quite continental.
By the French Riviera for the 75th Cannes Film Festival, Anne Hathaway and Julia Roberts proved the bigger the diamond the better as they walked the red carpet yesterday draped in dazzling jewels.
Miss Hathaway, 3 , offset her chic all-white bandeau and matching skirt with a royal blue diamond – all 107,15 carats of it – as she attended the premiere of Armageddon Time.
But the ‘Mediterranean Reverie’ necklace by high-end jeweller Bulgari had competition – as Miss Roberts, 54, wore a similarly extravagant yellow pendant to present the Trophee Chopard award to a male and female rising star at a dinner ceremony last night.
Armageddon Time, based on director James Gray’s upbringing in 1 80s New York, is competing for the festival’s main prize, the Palme d’Or. Miss Hathaway’s co-stars Sir Anthony Hopkins, 84, and Cate Blanchett, 53, did not appear on the red carpet for the premiere.
