Super-laser is ‘fake news’

-

UKRAINE has mocked Russian claims of a new laser weapon as ‘propaganda’ to cover up Moscow’s ‘complete failures’ in the war.

The Kremlin said it had laser weapons capable of blinding satellites nearly 1,000 miles above Earth and destroying drones in seconds.

But Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky compared the statements to the so-called ‘wonder weapons’ Nazi Germany unveiled to try to stave off defeat in the Second World War.

He said: ‘The clearer it became that they (the Nazis) had no chance in the war, the more propaganda there was about an amazing weapon that would be so powerful as to ensure a turning point. Russia is trying to find its “wonder weapon”. This all clearly shows the complete failure of the mission.’

Mr Zelensky accused Russian leaders of being ‘afraid to admit that catastrophic mistakes were made at the highest state and military level’.
