Long Covid action at a ‘snail’s pace’

-

ACTION to tackle long Covid is being taken at ‘a snail’s pace’, critics said yesterday.

A total of £10million has been allocated to help those suffering with the condition.

But Scottish Labour health spokesman Jackie Baillie told a Holyrood debate: ‘Two years on from when I and others first raised long Covid with the Government, we have baby steps being taken – snails move at a faster pace. It’s £10million over three years, a paltry £33 per person, per year.’

Around 150,000 people in Scotland suffer from the condition – which includes fatigue, breathing problems and joint pain – months after the infection has gone.
