WITH roles tailor-made for its stars — John Mills as a gung-ho Corporal, Bernard Lee as a cynical journalist and Richard Attenborough as a stay-at-home businessman — this was an ambitious attempt to film a heroic endeavour, almost six decades ahead of the 2017 epic film of the same name.

HIGH-OCTANE, highspeed action frolics, set in the world of illegal street racing, from specialist director Rob Cohen. Paul Walker (pictured) is the undercover cop infiltrating Vin Diesel’s gang to solve a far greater crime, but finding himself drawn in by their way of life. It kicked off a hugely popular franchise that’s still growing — Fast & Furious 6 is on ITV2 tonight at 8pm.
