‘Death crash driver had taken 7 drugs’

-

A DRIVER will stand trial charged with killing a cyclist while under the influence of seven drugs.

Scott MacKinnon is accused of hitting Colin McCourt, 40, on the A 14 near Cardross, Dunbartonshire, on November 10, 2020, while driving at excessive speed.

It is said he was unfit to be behind the wheel due to seven different drugs including street Valium and morphine.

Mr McCourt, of Dumbarton, who was riding his bike on the road, was so severely injured in the collision he later died.

At the High Court in Glasgow yesterday, MacKinnon, 46, of Helensburgh, denied causing death by dangerous driving. Lord Doherty set a trial for next February.
