STEVEN DAVIS could depart Rangers this summer, with Motherwell lining up an ambitious move for the veteran midfielder.

Aaron Ramsey said his farewells to the Ibrox support last night and now Davis, 37, who played a key role in Saturday’s Scottish Cup final win over Hearts, will hold discussions with the club over his future this week.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst wants uncertainty surrounding the future of his star men to be resolved as quickly as possible. Speaking after Rangers secured their first Scottish Cup triumph since 2009 through extra-time goals from Ryan Jack and Scott Wright, Davis owned up to being unclear on what comes next.

‘I really don’t know,’ he said. ‘We just said we’d speak after

this. It’s been an emotional week with the Europa League final — this doesn’t make up for it because it was a real good opportunity for us, but we’re delighted to win this — then Jimmy Bell’s funeral yesterday. ‘I’m delighted we could finish on a high. We’ll sit down next week or so and see where everything is.’ Sportsmail has learned Motherwell want to make the veteran midfielder an offer if his time at Ibrox is up. St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson has also been heavily linked after the pair worked together for Northern Ireland. However, Saints have already snapped up midfielders Mark O’Hara from Motherwell and Keanue Baccus from Western Sydney Wanderers on pre-contracts. They have also offered a contract to midfielder Alex Gogic after his Hibs exit. Meanwhile, Ramsey confirmed his Rangers career was over after missing the crucial penalty in the Europa League final. Happy to leave on a high after the Scottish Cup success, he now returns to Juventus. He said: ‘A nice way to finish the season after the big disappointment on Wednesday. To the blue sea of Ibrox, I want to thank you for your overwhelming support through the highs and lows. ‘You are some of the most passionate fans I ever had the pleasure of meeting. Thanks to everyone for making me feel so welcome. It’s been an incredible few months and I’m proud to be a small part of this club’s rich history.’ Davis’ future is just one of the issues Van Bronckhorst will prioritise after winning his first trophy as Ibrox manager. He’s refused to rule out a new deal for out-of-contract keeper Allan McGregor, but he could yet leave and be followed out the exit door by the likes of Connor Goldson and Davis. Alfredo Morelos, Joe Aribo, Ryan Kent, Jack and Filip Helander are entering the final 12 months of their deals, while transfer speculation surrounding prize asset Calvin Bassey will increase. Asked when decisions would be made on players going out of contract, Van Bronckhorst replied: ‘Not too long because we have to move on as a club.’ Rangers face two rounds of Champions League qualifying from the middle of July. Acknowledging the importance of a settled squad by then, he added: ‘You want to have your squad done as early as possible, because we also have to play in Europe when the season begins. We need to work in the summer for new players.’ Rejecting perceptions the current squad are coming to the end of their natural cycle, he said: ‘You don’t come to the end of the cycle if you are in a European final and win the Scottish Cup. This team still has a hunger and desire to win.’
