The day Ant and Dec crowned Charles the Prince of Bantz
THE Prince of Wales jousted with the kings of light entertainment yesterday at an awards ceremony for the Prince’s Trust.
The event’s hosts Ant and Dec claimed the heir to the throne had greeted them with the words: ‘Oh no, not you two again.’ Dec added: ‘Classic HRH bantz.’ Charles replied by jokingly welcoming the audience at London’s Theatre Royal to ‘the Ant and Dec Tuesday Afternoon Takeaway’. Famous faces in the crowd included actress Felicity Kendal, TV presenter Kate Garraway, British Vogue editor Edward Enninful and human rights lawyer Amal Clooney – a guest at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in 2018. She told Charles: ‘I’m Amal. I saw you years ago.’ Hailing the winners at the 18th annual awards show for his youth charity, Charles said: ‘Even after all these years, I never fail to be moved by the way each and every one of them has overcome the most daunting obstacles. I cannot tell you how proud it makes me.’
