Tom & Corden’s Top Gun karaoke

He’s used to inviting celebrities along for a drive and a singalong in his carpool karaoke sketches.

But James Corden didn’t look anywhere near as comfortable when Tom Cruise took him for a ride – in a jet.

The pair filmed several Top Guninspired scenes for The Late Late show, which is hosted by the British star. Corden – dressed in a khaki flight suit and aviator sunglasses – was taken through some training tips by Cruise at Hollywood Burbank Airport.

But once airborne, the TV presenter, 43, was left terrified by a string of stomachchurning manoeuvres in the Aero L-39 Albatros. Cruise – a qualified pilot – carried out a nosedive, a loop-the-loop and guided the fighter jet through a small gap between two mountains as Corden screamed and swore in the back.

The 59-year-old actor is currently promoting his new film Top Gun: Maverick – a sequel to the 1980s classic.
