Miss You... Mick’s tribute to old pal Cilla as Stones roll into Liverpool
IT was the first time he had performed in the city in more than half a century.
So Sir Mick Jagger marked the occasion by paying homage to a Liverpool icon. The Rolling Stones frontman shared a photograph of himself hugging a statue of fellow Sixties chart-topper Cilla Black.
The statue was put up outside the famous Cavern Club following the singer’s death in 2015 aged 72.
Sir Mick, 78, posted several other pictures from around the city for his 2.5million fans on Instagram ahead of last night’s concert at Anfield stadium – the first Stones gig in Liverpool since 1971.
The band, whose European tour marks their 60th anniversary, will also play two concerts in London’s Hyde Park.
They have continued to perform despite the death last year of drummer Charlie Watts.
