Star-struck leaders No mandate

-

OtHeR than for the most base reasons of personal status, how can the green party in scotland possibly say that the next general election should be fought, with their approval, on the snP proposal that it is a ‘de facto’ referendum on whether the UK should be broken up?

it is a preposterous supposition from the snP, but to be backed by a party seemingly formed to further environment issues, it is farcical.

i am afraid the only conclusion that can be reached is that the leaders of the green movement in scotland have become rather too fond of the ministerial cars and the movie star salaries and expenses.

ALExANDER MCKAy, Edinburgh. stePHen daisley’s article on the snP’s false claim to have a ‘democratic mandate’ for another go at breaking up the world’s fifth largest economy was spot on.

Only 28 per cent of the scottish electorate vote for the nationalists. WiLLiAM LoNESKiE, Lauder,
