I say: Play on, Paul!
TRICIA MITCHELL (Letters) criticises Paul McCartney for performing ‘for his ego’. But it’s not that — he performs because he loves it.
There is no better feeling than being in front of an appreciative audience, playing a good set of songs with a great band.
I’ve been a semi-pro guitarist for more than 50 years and I’ve had many memorable nights performing on stage. Most of my band are aged about 70 and no one has mentioned retiring. Why would we?
Paul McCartney’s voice may be weaker now but his playing hasn’t suffered and he has a great band around him. So carry on, I say.
