It’s me, Cathy! women tell star
HER drinking and inappropriate comments have made her one of the most memorable characters in the hit BBC sitcom Two Doors Down – and given her a cult following.
Now actress Doon Mackichan, pictured, has told how she is mobbed by women claiming to be just like her boozy character, Cathy.
The 5 -year-old, who spent seven years in Upper Largo, Fife, as a child, told BBC Radio 4: ‘In Glasgow, I literally get women running down the street going “Cathy, Cathy, I am you, you are me”.’
She said the character had a vulnerable side, adding: ‘I think that’s why people do love her.’
The fifth series of the hit show, which also stars Alex Norton, Jonathan Watson and Elaine C Smith, is currently airing on BBC Two. A sixth is planned.
