STRICTLY COME DANCING, 7PM, BBC1

-

WE’VE had to wait a little longer for the start of the 20th series — the launch show was originally scheduled for last Saturday — but now, here it is. The sequins are sewn in, dancing shoes are strapped on, and the glitterball’s set to spin — Strictly is back to light up our autumn nights. The 15 celebrities have already been announced — they include Countryfile presenter Helen Skelton, Loose Women’s Kaye Adams, former England footballer Tony Adams, paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds, actress and singer Kym Marsh and Bros’s Matt Goss — and tonight, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman (pictured) welcome them to the ballroom studio to find out which of the pros they’ll be paired with. Though we’ve said goodbye to Oti and Aljaz, there are four new faces to meet this year — Vito Coppola, who was also a dancer on the Italian version, Chinese National Champion Carlos Gu, former Under-21 British Champion Lauren Oakley and Cyprus-born Latin champion Michelle Tsiakkas. Last year’s winners, Rose and Giovanni, return to the floor tonight, and there’s a performance from the multiaward-winning John Legend. And we won’t have to wait long for the first live show, which follows tomorrow at 6.45pm.
