HOW THE LAVER CUP WORKS...
There are two teams of six players, Team Europe and Team World. Three players are selected off rankings immediately after the French Open, plus three ‘Captain’s picks’.
FORMAT
Four matches are played on each of the three days. On Friday and Saturday there are three singles followed by one doubles. On Sunday there are four singles. Each player must play at least one singles over the first two days (although Roger Federer has signalled he will be withdrawing after tomorrow). Both singles and doubles are best of three sets with advantage scoring. In the event of split sets, the third set is a 10-point match tiebreaker.
POINTS
There is one point per rubber today, two per rubber on Saturday, and three per rubber on Sunday. The first to 13 points is the winner, in the event of a 12-12 tie a deciding one-set doubles match will be played.
