Grealish ‘had sex with girl on night she was raped at Mendy party’, court hears
£100million star ‘passed out after encounter’
ENGLAND footballer Jack Grealish had sex with a woman hours after she was raped by a friend of his Manchester City team-mate Benjamin Mendy, a court heard yesterday.
The winger passed out after sleeping with the woman at a boozy party at Mendy’s £4.7million mansion, a teenage friend of hers told police.
By then the 23-year-old had allegedly already been attacked by Mendy’s co-accused, his ‘fixer’ Louis Saha Matturie, 41.
The same woman also had sex with Mendy later at the party in August last year, her younger friend said.
Chester Crown Court was told that Grealish ‘had been demanding vodka’ at the mansion. The former Aston Villa player had signed for Premier League champions Manchester City for a record £100million fee a fortnight earlier.
Mendy and Saha both deny a string of sex attacks on women. The court heard that Grealish and Mendy had been out with friends at the Chinawhite nightclub in Manchester before returning to Mendy’s home in Prestbury, Cheshire, to continue partying.
Four girls they met at the club agreed to go back with them.
Yesterday the jury was shown a video of a police interview given by one of the women – a 17-yearold who claims she was raped by Mendy and Saha at the mansion.
She told officers that all the girls had their phones taken from them when they arrived at Mendy’s home, The Spinney.
Soon afterwards the 23-year-old went with Saha to a nearby shop because ‘Jack had been demanding vodka’, the 17-year-old said.
But when the pair returned the older woman was ‘hysterical’, the teenager told police, adding: ‘She just told me she had fallen asleep in the car and woke up with the feeling of him pushing inside her.’
The 17-year-old told officers that the revelation made her feel ‘uncomfortable’, but she did not know what to do because she had no phone to call for help.
Later, in a lounge area, she said Mendy began ‘checking her out’ before leading her to an office, where he allegedly raped her twice.
She told police: ‘We did not talk about sex beforehand and afterwards we did not talk about it.
‘There was nothing of the sort to suggest we were going to engage in sex. During sex he was telling me, “This is not the body of a 17-yearold. I want you every day”.’
Afterwards, she went to find the 23-year-old woman, who was still in the lounge. ‘She told me she had sex with Jack,’ the teenager said.
‘I don’t know whether that was consensual or non-consensual. I don’t know what that was. But she was talking about it.
‘I know that this was after I had been with Ben, because after she had gone to bed with Ben as well.
‘She had been taken up to a room with Ben. This was a bedroom.’
The teenager said she was then raped again in a cinema room at the mansion, this time by Saha. He also raped her at his own flat later that day, it is alleged.
She told police she had taken cocaine while getting ready to go out, had drinks at Mendy’s home and became ‘quite tipsy’. She said Mendy and Saha were with Grealish at Chinawhite where girls were trying to take photos and videos of him.
She claimed Saha said the girls’ phones would not be allowed at Mendy’s house, adding: ‘He mentioned it was going to be a private party and we should just have fun.
‘Phones came up because we were talking about what happened in Chinawhite with Jack – girls taking pictures of him.’ When the officer interviewing her asked what she knew about Jack Grealish, she replied: ‘I knew he was quite sought-after because the way he was treated in the club.’
Prosecutors claim Mendy is a ‘predator’ who turned the pursuit of women for sex into a game. They say Saha helped the footballer find young women for sex.
Mendy denies seven counts of rape, one count of attempted rape and one count of sexual assault against six young women.
Saha, of Eccles, Salford, denies six counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault relating to seven young women.
Both say any sex that did take place was consensual. The trial continues.
