Kaye’s Strictly dream over... just as she was hitting her sexy stride

- By Paul Revoir Media Editor

SHE joked that she needed to learn how to be sexy on the dancefloor when she took on the Strictly challenge. But just as she was starting to hit her seductive stride, Loose Women host Kaye Adams became the first celebrity to leave this year’s show last night. The 59-year-old from Grangemouth, near Falkirk, was sent home by the judges who opted to keep Bros singer Matt Goss instead after their dance-off. They ended up in the bottom two on the leader board after the judges’ scores from last week and this week were combined with viewers’ votes. Miss Adams’s departure came as head judge Shirley Ballas was embroiled in a sexism row on Saturday night by saying contestant Will Mellor was ‘easy on the eye’ and ‘very adjudicator friendly’. Some viewers claimed it would have caused ‘uproar’ if a male judge had made such comments about a female contestant. Ratings for the second episode proper of the series, with an average of 7.3million, were up on from last week’s 6.84million. But they were down by nearly a million on last year’s equivalent show, according to data from online overnights.tv service. Last night viewers saw Miss Adams dance the Charleston with Kai Widdrington for a second time while Goss and his partner Nadiya Bychkova repeated their samba. After the judges’ verdict, Miss Adams told host Tess Daly: ‘It was the right result and I did make mistakes. ‘It was a hell of a lot of fun. I said my ambition was to learn to love to dance and I have seen a whole new side to myself. ‘It’s been a wonderful experience and to spend time with such talented people who love the show so much has been a joy.’
