GERMAN’S WARNING TO REDS

-

Merseyside with an impressive 4-0 away win over Hearts on Saturday. Asked for his assessment of Rangers, Klopp said: ‘Good football team, well coached. Exceptional European season last year, obviously. ‘Qualifying for the Champions League is a big, big, achievement. I saw the last game against Hearts. I have seen more games but obviously the last one, and they are a really good football team. ‘That is what we have to prepare for. They are a team that has had results they didn’t want and that is what they want to change, definitely. So we expect a proper fight, a real fight to be honest, and that is what we prepare for.’ Liverpool came within a point of winning last season’s English title and lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid. However, they have opened this campaign in faltering fashion and Klopp has confessed there is a shortage of confidence following recent results. On whether that made a game against Rangers more dangerous, the German added: ‘They would be dangerous in any situation. But yes, people ask how can it happen that players aren’t full of confidence… do you think Cristiano Ronaldo is on top of his confidence levels at this moment? ‘People would say he was for ages the best player in the world but now it’s not going his way and it is not exactly the same. That happens to all of us. ‘Lionel Messi played last season and it was not exactly the same because these kinds of things are really important for all of us and you have to work for it. ‘You have to take the little things to take a step in the right direction and then you are ready for the moment when it is back. That is what we are doing. ‘Rangers do extremely well in general but in the Champions League their results have not been as they would have wanted. So we expect a team fighting for a result. That’s what we have to prepare for.’
