Tycoon’s £5m NHS care hub
SCOTLAND’S richest man is looking to build a multi-millionpound health hub in the Highlands.
Anders Holch Povlsen, pictured, plans to spend around £5million to build a health and social care hub in Tongue, Sutherland. Mr Povlsen’s company Wildland Ltd – which owns estates in the area – is to fund the building of a high-quality care home and doctor’s surgery and then lease it back to NHS Highland and Highland Council.
The Asos boss, 48, is also Scotland’s largest private landowner.
NHS Highland has invited locals to view the health hub plans and give feedback at a community drop-in event at the Kyle Centre in Tongue on Wednesday.
Michelle Johnstone, north area manager for NHS Highland, said: ‘We are excited about this opportunity to ensure the sustainability of services across the north coast.’
