15 years since Meredith’s murder, Knox and her ex reunited in Italy

- By Elizabeth Haigh and Henry Martin

AMANDA Knox and her former lover Raffaele Sollecito smile as they reunite in Italy – 15 years after they were wrongly jailed for the murder of a British student.

They met in the historic town of Gubbio, the place they had planned to visit on the day Leeds University student Meredith Kercher’s body was discovered.

Miss Knox, 35, and Mr Sollecito, who both spent four years in jail, had not met in a decade. Miss Kercher, 21, of Coulsdon, south London, was living in Perugia with US flatmate

Miss Knox in 2007 when she was found dead in her room. She had been stabbed 47 times and there were signs of sexual assault.

Miss Knox, now a mother-of-one, and Italian Mr Sollecito, a computer engineer, 38, were convicted twice. Both verdicts were overturned due to a lack of evidence.

Rudy Guede, whose DNA was found at the scene, served 14 years for the killing.
