Edinburgh put on a late show to sink Cardiff
EDINBURGH brought Cardiff’s impressive league run to an abrupt halt with a deserved victory at the Arms Park. The hosts led 17-15 at the interval but a strong performance from the capital side — missing a host of internationals — took the game away from them in the final quarter. Edinburgh’s tries came from Ben Muncaster, Luke Crosbie and Patrick Harrison, with Emiliano Boffelli adding two penalties and two conversions. Thomas Young scored a try for Cardiff. There was also a penalty try award, with Jarrod Evans kicking a penalty and a conversion. The result keeps Edinburgh in fifth place in the United Rugby Championship.
ENGLAND booked their place in the Women’s Rugby World Cup semi-finals with a dominant 41-5 victory over Australia in Auckland. It was their 29th straight win and they will next face Canada after the North Americans defeated the USA 32-11.
