HOW THEY RATED
SCOTLAND
OLLIE SMITH
Took try well and impressed under the high ball but expected to make way for Stuart Hogg against Fiji. 7
DARCY GRAHAM Defended well early on but was starved of the ball in attack. One of his
5 quietest-ever games for Scotland.
MARK BENNETT
Forced Foley into the fumble that led to Kinghorn’s solo try. Tackled well but didn’t show up in attack. 6
SIONE TUIPULOTU
Helped set up Smith try. Will be haunted by failing to gather pass that would have led to a try in the corner. 6
DUHAN VAN DER MERWE Blistering run had the crowd on their feet but he didn’t give them much else to shout about. 5
BLAIR KINGHORN
Brilliant in open play and scored great try but he will be remembered for last-minute penalty miss. 6
ALI PRICE
Didn’t take the game to the opposition enough and his box kicking was inconsistent. 5
PIERRE SCHOEMAN Carried the ball more than any other Scotland player but gave away some silly penalties. 6
DAVE CHERRY
Not perfect with his throw-ins and gave away penalty that allowed Foley to give Aussies a half-time lead. 5
ZANDER FAGERSON
Held up the scrum well and got into the faces of the opposition in open play in a decent all-round display. 7
SAM SKINNER
Only lasted 22 minutes before going off with a foot injury which is likely to rule him out this weekend. 4
GRANT GILCHRIST
Dropped ball with the try-line at his mercy and gave away a line-out penalty at a vital moment. 5
JAMIE RITCHIE
Good outing in his first game as captain with the back-row forward winning two vital turnovers. 7
MATT FAGERSON
Has made No 8 jersey his own but a below-par performance. Didn’t get involved as much as usual. 5 HAMISH WATSON
Quieter than normal but still made 16 successful tackles, and did his best to spur his team on. 7
