ANNAN Athletic’s Premier Sports Cup heroics seem like a distant memory — and now the Dumfriesshire club have a fight on their hands if they want to remain in senior football. The Galabankies caused a stir earlier this season by topping their League Cup section and then taking Aberdeen to extra-time before bowing out in their second-round clash. However, Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat by Dumbarton saw them slip to the foot of League Two and the realities of a scrap for survival in the bottom tier are becoming ever clearer for Peter Murphy’s men.
