Liz’s £60,000 gown in a suitcase

- By Jennifer Ruby Showbusiness News Editor

DAZZLING dresses given by Elizabeth Taylor to her personal assistant could fetch nearly £100,000 at auction after being found in an old suitcase.

Outfits include a Christian Dior gown – expected to sell for £60,000 – which she wore in 1961 when she won the Oscar for best actress for the film Butterfield 8. In 1971, Miss Taylor told Anne Sanz to take what she wanted; the personal assistant kept most items in a suitcase in her spare room. Mrs Sanz quit when Miss Taylor and her husband Richard Burton divorced for a second time in 1976, unable to decide who to keep working for. The 15 lots will be sold at London’s Kerry Taylor Auctions on December 6.
