Six wounded in knife attack at Paris rail station

-

A KNIFEMAN has attacked and wounded six passengers at the Gare du Nord station in Paris.

The ‘indiscriminate’ frenzy, which was carried out with a homemade blade, started at 6.40am local time inside Europe’s busiest railway station.

An off-duty police officer who was returning home at the end of his shift shot the attacker and ‘neutralised’ him.

The suspect was taken to hospital in a critical condition after being shot three times. He had no identity documents on him at the time and his motive has not been established.

Gare du Nord is the station Britons arrive at in Paris if they take the Eurostar from London. Rail network TER Hautsde-France said: ‘Traffic is disrupted on departure and arrival from Paris Nord. A security perimeter has been established but the station is operating normally.’
