HORSE-BY-HORSE GUIDE
CONSTITUTION HILL
Sprung to prominence with a 22-length success in last year’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and has twice beaten former Champion Hurdle winner Epatante by double digits to confirm his billing as the most talented hurdler of his generation.
I LIKE TO MOVE IT
Destroyed the field in the Kingwell Hurdle when jumping with more fluency and has won three of four races on the Old Course, which entitles him to be vying for the podium. May outrun his price if his hurdling holds up in this company.
JASON THE MILITANT
Beaten in handicap company on his debut for new connections and hard to envisage him making an impact at this level.
NOT SO SLEEPY
Thumped by Constitution Hill in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle and no show over three miles at Kempton last time. Likely to be among frontrunners, but victory would represent a massive shock.
STATE MAN (right)
Would be a prohibitive price to win this event in any normal year, but the presence of Constitution Hill ensures he is a strong second favourite. Still improving and unlikely to go down with a whimper.
VAUBAN
Last year’s Triumph Hurdle winner has found life tough in open company, with State Man twice putting him in his place. Hurdling technique is sometimes questionable, as he is not the biggest, and a place may be his best hope in this company.
ZANAHIYR
Well held in the Irish Champion Hurdle by State Man and balance of his form suggests he is often one to oppose at the highest level. Third in last year’s renewal, but subsequently disqualified following a drugs test.
