A MOTHER has died following an incident in a city street.
Police yesterday confirmed that a 16-year-old boy had been arrested in connection with the death of Danielle Davidson, 33.
Ms Davidson, who had a six-year-old son, was involved in the incident as she walked along a street in Edinburgh on Thursday.
Witnesses told how they saw a row just before 8pm.
Ms Davidson was discovered with serious injuries and taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. She died in hospital a short time later.
Police launched a probe and subsequently arrested the teenager.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: ‘Around 7.50pm on Thursday, May 18, we received a report of a disturbance at Constitution Street, Edinburgh. A 33they year-old woman was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries and died a short time later.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said an ambulance dispatched along with a rapid response vehicle arrived within three minutes.
Witnesses reported seeing a blue forensic tent erected at the scene near the bottom of Leith Walk. One told Edinburgh Live: ‘I saw five marked police cars, two unmarked and forensics were getting suited or unsuited.’
The area was initially locked down but has since reopened. Police said intended to maintain a presence while inquiries are ongoing.
Yesterday the force said formal identification was yet to take place, but devastated family and friends of Ms Davidson, who was from Leith, paid tribute to her on social media.
Her cousin John Davidson wrote: ‘My beautiful Danielle Davidson I am broken. Life’s so cruel: you were a fighter, you don’t deserve this. Not everyone understood you and that made you unique, but those in your life did and now you’re gone.’
Another relative said: ‘My heart is absolutely broken. Rest in peace Danielle you were one of a kind, love you forever.’
Friend Jennifer Spears, who said she had seen Ms Davidson days earlier, wrote: ‘She was doing amazing. My heart is breaking for her wee boy. Such a cruel, cruel world.’
According to her profile on Facebook, Ms Davidson studied make-up, hair and beauty at Edinburgh’s Telford College and was a former pupil of Trinity Academy in the north of the capital.
